Roles in ChoirMate
Member
The “Member” role in ChoirMate is the most common role assigned to all users upon joining the choir. This role provides access to the standard functions within ChoirMate, though it restricts deeper insights and editing of the choir’s content within the app. Members can read messages from choir leadership, respond with comments, and participate in group conversations.
Additionally, members can listen to, record, and share audio files, as well as view musical scores. They are able to check in to activities and report their own absences, but they do not have the ability to view the absences of others. This role ensures that all choir members have access to essential functionalities while maintaining certain administrative boundaries.
Editor
The “Editor” role in ChoirMate is ideal for choirs that operate with a concept of “section leaders” — that is, one or more choir members in each vocal section who have additional responsibilities for their group. These responsibilities are often musical but can also be administrative.
The Editor role encompasses all the capabilities of the Member role, plus the ability to edit the shared Practice List for their section, add remarks to songs for their section, and manage images associated with Practice Lists. Administrators can enable settings that allow editors to record attendance within their own section. Editors can also create polls or events on behalf of their section.
Features exclusive to the Editor role (or higher access) are indicated throughout ChoirMate with a half-star symbol. In group settings, it’s also possible to decide whether repertoire and set lists can be managed by editors or solely by administrators.
Editors might also have access to edit the choir’s ChoirMate website if it’s active for the choir.
Administrator
The “Administrator” role in ChoirMate provides members with complete control over the choir’s content, extending well beyond the capabilities of the Editor role. This role is particularly well-suited for choir members who take part in managing the choir, often including members of the choir’s board. The choir conductor automatically receives the Administrator role.
Administrators enjoy extensive access to a range of functionalities, such as assigning roles, tracking attendance, and exporting detailed attendance reports. They are also empowered to set up setlists, remarks, schedule events, create polls, and send highlighted messages to the entire choir.
Features exclusive to the Administrator role are distinguished by a full star icon throughout ChoirMate. This designation equips administrators with robust tools necessary for comprehensive management and operational oversight of choir activities.
